The vibe shifts in more ways than one today for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere as we experience the start of a new astrological season with the Sun’s ingress into Libra and the Autumn Equinox, a time when day and night find perfect balance.
The Autumn Equinox marks a turning point, urging us to reflect on the balance in our own lives—between what we give and what we receive, what we nurture and what we release—as we prepare for the more introspective months ahead as daylight becomes shorter following the Equinox.
[If you enjoy reading these written offerings, turning the heart button red is a small, yet big way to support them. Grateful you’re here!]
It is also a time to reflect on everything that’s transpired in our lives since the Spring Equinox, the real new year!
Take a look at where the Spring Equinox happens in your chart (the house that Aries occupies) and then where the Fall Equinox happens (the house that Libra occupies). How have you woven your goals and intentions into your everyday life? What was unfolding around that time? What is unfolding now? Continue to observe what unfolds during the autumn months.
For those in other parts of the world, such as Australia, this is a time of fresh starts with the Spring Equinox.
By attuning our awareness to the equinox, we can also bring awareness to the cycles within our own lives. Our lives follow patterns of expansion, fruition, decline, and renewal, mirroring the natural cycles observed in the natural world.
During the autumn months (September, October, and November), we’re invited to celebrate the results of our hard work, whether it’s the tangible rewards reaped from our garden or the achievements and intentions we set for our life’s journey earlier in the year. Essentially, it’s a time to gather and harvest.
As much as the Autumn Equinox is a time to gather and harvest, it’s also a time to create space. A time to compost unaligned goals, ideas, intentions, and visions and lay them to rest with the Winter Solstice. We then get to carry a rested, healed, renewed version of ourselves into the Spring Equinox.
So, in what ways will you create space during the autumn months as we approach the Winter Solstice?
Libra season kicked off at 8:41 ET this morning and will stay here until October 22.
This is the sign of the Sun’s fall.
When a planet is in the sign of its fall, it’s uncomfortable in this unfamiliar territory and will express its nature in unconventional ways due to being less resourced.
When Libra is in the abode of the Sun, opposite where the Sun finds its exaltation (power) in Aries, it can dilute the Sun's natural drive for independence and fulfilling individual wants/needs, placing more emphasis on relationships, harmony, cooperation, and interdependence.
The Aries-Libra axis is the “I” and “you” axis, so the Sun falls in Libra because in order to maintain harmony within our personal connections, it often calls for the compromise of our individual wants and needs.
Since the nodal shift to the North Node in Aries and the South Node in Libra in July 2023, the collective has been urged to embrace their identity with confidence, relinquish fears related to conflict and confrontation, and be prepared to walk their own path if necessary—all while letting go of the need for external validation.
With the South Node in Libra, we’ve been invited to reflect on past patterns, particularly in relationships and the pursuit of harmony with others. This shift has encouraged the release of tendencies toward co-dependency and excessive compromise, fostering a renewed sense of self-reliance and independence.
The Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 2 is bringing major beginnings/endings surrounding these themes and wherever libra rules in your chart.
